Dub Plates

Club music, being way heavy in bass, prefers to be cut at very high levels. The standard level for European cuts is 6 db over standard reference level. Standard reference level is referred to as +4 db. Those who boast of cutting at +10 db are actually cutting at 6db over standard reference level. Cutting at these levels, especially heavy bass, the grooves have to be pretty spread out, and deep to keep the needle from bouncing out, especially when scratched and back-cued. This limits the time you can cut on your record.

Below is a chart that will give the specifications for straight line pitch, and the pitches I have available.

Remember that the above time limits are firm as the system doesn't have any room to squeek another groove or two in and still stay within the RIAA standards. Also, these times do not allow for banding grooves between songs. Additionally, if multiple songs are on one side of a record, and they are not in the proper order, editing charges will apply.
